Job opportunities for a experimental physicist who specializes in optics?
There are plenty of jobs in the private sector for people with physics degrees. It's ridiculous to think money doesn't matter, especially after 10 years of of college, student loans, and the cost of rent and gas. You can easily make 100k or more even starting out with a PhD in physics going into industry or government jobs. Try Monster.com; I got an offer for a job through there that probably would have paid 100k, but I'm still holding out for a faculty position after my postdoc (even though it will probably pay half that).
